A second letter from Alex

I came home from work tonight and there was another letter from Alex. It was dated Sunday, June 29th. This time, it was an actual 2-page letter, not just 3 lines at the bottom of the last page of a form letter.

He said things are going better than he expected. He isn't sure when he will be able to call, but he's doing everything he can to make that possible. And he needs another phone card. :)

I will update everyone when I get a call. I'm hoping it will be tomorrow (Thursday) or Friday. Keep your fingers crossed, say a prayer, light candle, whatever ritual you want to do, that he can call.

Thanks, and support our troops and remember them and the sacrifices they and their families are making this 4th of July weekend. Without them, we would not be able to celebrate our country's freedoms. Honor them.

Hi Laura, The letter's will come more and more now, that he is getting settled in, with his new schedule he will know when he has time to write, and with his mind thinking of home and friends and family, he will write more as the weeks and months go bye. then they will not seem to long for you to wait for that letter from your son.. take care girl, Jim said he will write a long letter to him after the fourth is over, bye for now.... Reading your posts about your son's recent enlistment takes me back in time to November and December of 1993 -when my son enlisted in the Army and was sent to Fort Leonard Wood, Missour -if I remember correctly -that may have been his second post assignment though. (Senility factors in here ya know.) He left home the Sunday before Thanksgiving, I got the "form letter card" thing a while later and then, finally a letter from him. And, he was allowed to come home for Christmas too -for two whole weeks, as a matter of fact. But I can sure remember wanting so much to hear from him by mail, waiting for his first phone call too. It's hard, for sure, at first, no two ways about that but it does get a little easier along about the time they finally get discharged! Hope things perk up a bit for you, Kiddo! Will be waiting to see your next post about hearing more from him -like maybe a phone call!

Thanks, Sheryll and Jeni!

Yes, things will be perking up here soon. I have a few business ventures in the works and I am working on attracting more good things by purging out some of the old, either by eBay, Craigslist, Goodwill or the trash can!

Have a safe and Happy 4th! I have the day off! Whoohoo!

Laura :)
