The USS Carl Vinson Enroute To Haiti

If you have been watching the news, you have heard Haiti was hit by a 7.0 earthquake. This morning, President Obama announced at his press conference that the USS Carl Vinson is enroute to help with humanitarian aide.

For those of you who read my blog, my son, Alex, is aboard that aircraft carrier. It was originally supposed to be going to San Diego, California, but with the disaster in Haiti, it will be going there instead.

Please, everyone, pray for the safe return of Alex and his shipmates and all who are going to Haiti for this mission. From what I've seen from the news reports, the country is devastated, and dangerous with the aftershocks.

Thank you. Here is a link for more information:

Dear Laura, My son Vincent Niemiec is also on the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier. We use to live in Las Vegas when Los Angeles had their big earthquake the after shocks reached where we lived. Pretty scarry. I believe this will be a life altering experience for all of our young men and women. I pray they will be strong and help many get to safety. I know the ship has 3 operating rooms and 19 helicopters and equipment to help through this crises. May God Bless you and your son. I hope we can continue to communicate.

My son is also serving on the Carl Vinson, Josh Weis. He was looking forward to going to South America, but duty call him in Haiti for now to help those in need. He is a strong man and it will be an ever changing life experience for him. God Bless all the military forces in Haiti. I will pray for each and everyones safety.

Laura,
I hope the lessons Alex takes from his time helping the victims in Haiti are the kind that build and strengthen him further. I can't imagine the devastation he's going to step into when the ship gets there. I can only know that they've trained for this kind of work and they have skills that you and I would marvel over.
My prayers are with your young man!

You should be very proud of your son. It takes a brave person to serve his country. Now, he'll also be helping people in need. He's one of the ones who does what others wish they had the guts to do.
